Our approach
TikaCam is a privacy-first live video chat. Calls are peer-to-peer (P2P) via WebRTC and end-to-end encrypted (E2EE). We do not monitor or record call content.
We do not collect: call audio/video, biometrics, precise geolocation, or your address book.
What we collect (minimal by design)
- Essential connection data (ephemeral IP/network candidates via WebRTC signaling; ICE/STUN/TURN usage; session start/stop timestamps) to set up and maintain P2P calls.
- Device/browser info (user agent, capability flags) to make camera/mic work.
- Abuse reports you submit (reason, optional description, time, counterpart ID).
- Operational logs (error codes, dropped call diagnostics) for reliability and abuse prevention.
- Aggregate, cookieless analytics (page views, referrers, country-level)—no cross-site tracking.
Cookies
We avoid cookies. If used, they are only for essential preferences (e.g., 18+ confirmation) and never for advertising.
Legal bases (GDPR/UK GDPR)
- Performance of a contract — provide the service you request (connect a call).
- Legitimate interests — security, abuse prevention, reliability.
- Legal obligation — comply with law and enforce Terms.
- Consent — where required (e.g., 18+ affirmation, optional features).
Retention
- Signaling/connection data: ephemeral, kept only while needed to set up/maintain the call.
- Operational logs: typically up to 30 days, then deleted or aggregated.
- Abuse reports/enforcement records: kept only as long as needed and as required by law.
Security
Calls are E2EE P2P where supported. If media is relayed via TURN, it remains encrypted in transit. We use rate limits, abuse heuristics, and review of reports (not call content) to enforce rules.
Your rights
You may request access, correction, deletion, or restriction; object to processing; and request portability. Email [email protected]. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
TikaCam is 18+ only. We do not knowingly allow minors to use the service.
International transfers
Where data is processed outside your country, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) when required.
Third parties
We may use infrastructure providers (hosting, TURN) and privacy-friendly analytics. They act on our instructions and do not receive call content.
Law enforcement
We don’t record calls. If we receive a lawful request, we can provide only what we have (e.g., timestamps, IP at connection time, and reports).
Changes
We’ll update this policy when needed and post the new date above. If changes are material, we’ll provide a more prominent notice.
